Yueqi Li (Queenie)
Yueqi Li (Queenie) is a classical guitarist and educator known for her refined musicianship, thoughtful teaching, and commitment to nurturing the next generation of young musicians. She began her musical training in China with renowned guitarists Bozhong Du and Denmin Danny Yeh, later continuing her studies in Australia. Queenie completed both a Bachelor of Music in Classical Performance and a Master of Performance and Pedagogy at the Elder Conservatorium of Music, studying under Dr Oliver Fartach-Naini. During her studies, she was recognised for her excellence with multiple awards, including the Michael Robert Poag Scholarships (2018, 2022) and the University of Adelaide Higher Education Scholarship (International) in 2021.
Queenie has broadened her artistic perspective through masterclasses with leading international guitarists such as Song-ou Lee, Raffaele Agostino, Leonardo Bravo, Ken Murray, Jose Maria Gallardo de Rey, Kyuhee Park, and Andrea González Caballero. Her performance achievements include several scholarships and a third-place award in the Open Age Category of the 2016 Adelaide Eisteddfod Guitar Competition. She has appeared both as a soloist and as a member of the Elder Conservatorium Guitar Ensemble at major events, including the Guitarissimo concert series, the South Korea International Guitar Festivals (2017 and 2023), performances at Tongyeong Concert Hall, and the Adelaide Guitar Festivals (2016, 2018, and 2024).
With extensive experience as a teacher, Queenie works with students of all ages and levels, guiding them from their first notes through to advanced performance. Her students consistently excel: all of her AMEB candidates have achieved A or A+ results, and many have won prizes at the Adelaide Eisteddfod in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Her teaching philosophy is grounded in a holistic approach that combines classical technique, musicianship, and cognitive development. She is dedicated to helping each student develop confidence, artistry, and a lifelong appreciation for music.
